These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of the website lanes.sh, the Lanes desktop application and Lanes Link (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. About the Service
Lanes is a native desktop application that allows developers to orchestrate multiple AI coding agents from a single workspace. The Service provides workspace management, task tracking, integrated terminals, git worktree management and real-time monitoring of AI agent activity.
Lanes is an orchestration layer. It does not provide AI models, coding agents or CLI tools. You bring your own tools (such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI or others) and your own accounts with those providers. Lanes coordinates their execution in parallel within your local environment.
Lanes supports two workspace modes: local workspaces, where all data stays on your machine, and remote workspaces that enable collaboration by storing issue and session data via Supabase.
The Service also exposes a local MCP server on your machine so that agents such as Claude Code or Codex can drive your workspace, and offers optional third-party integrations that you can connect via OAuth to import work and post results back. In the desktop application these are currently GitHub and Linear.
Lanes Link is a separate, open-source component that you run yourself, either on your own machine or in your own cloud. It exposes accounts you connect (currently Google, Apple iCloud, GitHub, Notion and Linear) to an AI agent through the Model Context Protocol, under permissions you set. Lanes does not host it, does not operate it, and does not see the data that passes through it. Its source and licence are published at github.com/lanes-sh/link, and where that licence and these Terms differ, the licence governs the software itself.
The Service also includes Lanes Forms, an optional hosted service for creating form endpoints and receiving the submissions sent to them. Unlike local workspaces, form submissions are stored on our servers so that they can be held and forwarded to you.
The Service is offered on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation or any particular outcome from AI agent activity.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
By using the Service you confirm that you are of legal age to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authorisation to accept these Terms on its behalf.
You sign in using Google Authentication. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account and all activity under your Lanes account.
3. Your Tools and Terminal Activity
Lanes provides integrated terminals in which AI coding agents and CLI tools execute commands on your machine. You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs within these terminals, including but not limited to:
- Commands executed by AI agents you configure and run
- Code generated, modified or deleted by those agents
- Files created, read or removed on your local filesystem
- Git operations performed on your repositories
- Any interactions with third-party services initiated through the terminal
- Actions taken against optional integrations you have connected (such as GitHub, Linear or a Google account connected through Lanes Link) using the OAuth grant you authorised, including messages sent, files created or amended, and events added to a calendar
Lanes does not review, approve, endorse or control the actions taken by AI agents or CLI tools running within the application. These tools operate using your own accounts, credentials and permissions. You acknowledge that AI agents may produce incorrect, unexpected or destructive output, and that it is your responsibility to review and supervise their activity.
Your use of third-party AI agents and CLI tools is governed by the respective provider's terms of service and privacy policies, including but not limited to those of Anthropic, OpenAI and Google. Lanes is not a party to your relationship with these providers.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service in violation of applicable law or regulation
- Attempt unauthorised access to the Service or related systems
- Reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble any part of the Service
- Transmit malicious code or attempt to disrupt the Service or other users
- Create multiple accounts to bypass restrictions or suspensions
- Use the Service to develop a competing product
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation when using the Service
- Use Lanes Forms to collect data unlawfully, or to send unsolicited, deceptive or harmful messages
5. Your Data
You retain full ownership of all your data. For local workspaces, your workspace configurations, tasks, project names and all session content remain entirely on your local machine. Lanes does not collect, store or have access to any of it.
For remote workspaces, issue and session data is stored securely via Supabase in a data center in Europe to enable collaboration, with logical segregation at workspace level.
When you use Lanes Forms, the submissions your forms collect are stored on our servers so that they can be held and forwarded to you. This is a deliberate exception to the local-first model above. You own and remain responsible for that data. See our Privacy Policy for how form data is stored, forwarded and retained.
Lanes receives a limited licence to process and store your account information solely for Service provision, specifically to manage your account and provide anonymous telemetry and analytics.
Lanes does not access, collect or store the contents of your code, terminal sessions, prompts, AI agent interactions, task names or workspace configurations. Your work is confidential to you and never leaves your device.
6. Lanes Forms
Lanes Forms lets you create hosted form endpoints and receive the submissions sent to them. When you use Lanes Forms, you are responsible for the data you collect through your forms and for how you use it. In particular, you agree that:
- You have a lawful basis to collect the data your forms request, and you provide any notice to, and obtain any consent from, your respondents that applicable law requires.
- You will not use Lanes Forms to collect data unlawfully, to gather sensitive data you are not permitted to hold, to send unsolicited or deceptive messages, or to phish or mislead respondents.
- You are responsible for your use of the submissions forwarded to you, including keeping your recipient addresses accurate and secure.
Lanes provides the form backend on an "as is", best-effort basis. We may freeze, delete or decline to forward submissions in line with our published retention rules and to protect the integrity of the Service. See our Privacy Policy for how form data is stored, forwarded and retained.
7. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party providers including Google Cloud and Firebase for infrastructure. These are governed by their own terms and policies. Each provider may independently process, delay or reject data. Lanes is not responsible for any third-party action, inaction, outages, changes or data processing.
When applicable, Stripe is used for payment processing and is governed by its own terms.
For remote workspaces, Supabase is used for issue and session data storage and is governed by its own terms and privacy policy. Supabase also stores Lanes Forms submissions.
Resend is used to deliver transactional email, including Lanes Forms notifications and the forwarding of form submissions, and is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.
We are not liable for changes to, interception of or loss of data while in transit via the internet.
You may also connect optional third-party services to the Service via OAuth: currently GitHub and Linear in the desktop application, and Google, Apple iCloud, GitHub, Notion and Linear in Lanes Link. Your use of those services is governed by each provider's own terms of service and privacy policy, and Lanes is not a party to your relationship with them.
The hosted OAuth client
An application that runs on your machine cannot keep an OAuth client secret private. So for most integrations Lanes operates the OAuth client and performs the code exchange on your behalf, as described in section 7 of the Privacy Policy. That client is provided on the following terms:
- It is offered as-is, with no service level. It may be unavailable, and while it is, connecting a new account and refreshing an expired one will fail.
- It is subject to a fair-use limit. Google restricts how many accounts may authorise against an application pending verification, and we apply per-account rate limits of our own. We may decline a connection when a limit is reached.
- We may withdraw access from an account that abuses the shared client, attempts to use it outside Lanes Link, or uses it in a way that puts the client's standing with the provider at risk.
- You may always use your own.
lanes link connect <provider> --own-clientregisters an OAuth client you control, after which the exchange happens directly between your machine and the provider and none of the above applies. Nothing in the Service depends on using ours.
We may change, restrict or discontinue the hosted client. Doing so does not affect your ability to keep using Lanes Link with an OAuth client of your own.
8. Intellectual Property
All software, design, content and materials related to Lanes are owned by the operator or its licensors and protected by applicable law.
You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to access and use the Service in accordance with these Terms.
9. Feedback
Any feedback you provide about the Service may be used without restriction or obligation.
10. Availability and Modifications
The Service may be modified, interrupted, suspended or discontinued at any time without liability. We reserve the right to change, remove or add features without prior notice. Continued use constitutes acceptance of changes.
Fees paid are non-refundable. No credits will be issued for service interruptions caused by your violation of these Terms. You remain liable for any outstanding fees during and after account suspension.
11. Account Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without prior notice, at our sole discretion, for any reason including but not limited to violation of these Terms, suspected fraud or to protect platform integrity.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We are not obligated to retain your data after termination and may delete it in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Lanes disclaims all warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability and non-infringement. This includes but is not limited to warranties of uninterrupted service, error-free operation or data accuracy.
Lanes makes no warranties regarding the output, accuracy or safety of any AI coding agent or CLI tool used through the Service. AI agents may produce incorrect, incomplete or harmful results. You assume all risk associated with the use of AI-generated code and automated actions on your system.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lanes shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages. This includes but is not limited to damages from data loss, code changes, repository corruption, service interruptions, actions taken by AI agents, or any reliance on the Service or output produced through it.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amounts you paid to Lanes in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. This limitation applies even if Lanes has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lanes, its operators and contributors from claims, damages, losses, liabilities and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your use of the Service, actions taken by AI agents or CLI tools you configure, violation of these Terms, or any claims from third parties related to your use of the Service.
15. Force Majeure
Lanes is not liable for failure or delay caused by events beyond reasonable control, including natural disasters, network failures, power outages or third-party service disruptions.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
17. Survival
Sections relating to intellectual property, disclaimer of warranties, limitation of liability, indemnification and governing law survive termination of these Terms.
18. Changes to These Terms
These Terms may be updated at any time and are effective immediately upon publication. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
