This Cookie Policy explains how Lanes ("we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on lanes.sh (the "Service"). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences and understand how you interact with it. We also use browser local storage, which works similarly but stays on your device until cleared.
2. Cookies We Use
Essential Cookies
These are required for the Service to function and cannot be disabled.
| Cookie / Storage | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Auth tokens | Keep you signed in across sessions | Session / persistent |
theme | Remember your light/dark mode preference | Persistent |
lanes_cookie_consent | Store your cookie consent choice | Persistent |
Analytics Cookies
When you grant consent, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous usage data such as pages visited, session duration and device type. This helps us understand how the Service is used and where to improve.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguish unique users | 2 years |
_ga_* | Maintain session state | 2 years |
With Google Consent Mode v2, if you decline analytics cookies GA4 still sends cookieless pings for basic aggregate measurement. No cookies are set and no personally identifiable information is collected.
Advertising Cookies
We do not currently run ads on Lanes. However, our consent framework includes advertising categories (ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization) for future compatibility with Google services. These are denied by default and only activated if you explicitly grant consent.
3. Managing Your Preferences
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking Cookies in the footer or using the cookie settings icon on the consent banner. Your choices are saved in local storage and applied immediately.
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of the Service from working correctly.
4. Third-Party Cookies
The only third-party cookies on Lanes come from Google Analytics. We do not embed social media widgets, ad networks or other third-party trackers. Google's privacy policy governs how they process analytics data.
5. Technical Limitations
While we make reasonable efforts to honour your cookie preferences, technical issues such as browser inconsistencies, caching, third-party script behaviour or software bugs may occasionally result in cookies being set or processed in a way that does not fully align with your stated preferences. We are not liable for any such discrepancies. If you believe your preferences are not being respected, please contact us and we will investigate promptly.
6. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we adopt new technologies or change our practices. Changes take effect when published on this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
7. Contact
